Working at home verses working in a B&M job

For 5 years I worked in home health which is as close to working from home I've done. My hubby is a truck driver and in August 2007 he went over the road. Last Oct. I dropped to parttime, so I was available to our youngest daughter. At the time she wasn't driving. For the first 4-5 months it wasn't too bad. I was still getting a fair amount of work, but was off everyday at 2pm. Then around April my boss decided she didn't need me anymore and took me off the schedule. That's when I began looking for work at home jobs fulltime.
The first job I found was preforming insurance exams. I do most of the work at home, but have to go to applicants home or business to do the exam. This is only parttime and I usually work 2-3 days a week. I am looking into getting my phlebotomy certificate.
I have also worked with West at home. I wasn't completely satisfied with them. I didn't like the upsells and APO's you have to try to sell. Then my phone died, I'm not sure what happened. We are going to work on it hopefully while we are off a few days.
I'm looking for non-phone jobs. As any of you know those are few and difficult to get. Since I'm new to this I'm going to test for Odesk, and try to get started there. The pay isn't very good, but like any position when you don't have experience you start where you can.
I'm also trying to get into medical transcription. I've looked at several schools. The best ones are too expensive for me, and we don't get loans for anything, anymore. I will be spending some time reviewing forums for ideas on getting trained. If you have any ideas please let me know.

Odesk invitation

I received an invitation to interview on Odesk. I haven't tested for Odesk yet. I had downloaded everything, and started having trouble with my computer and deleted it off. I'm doing research now, and I keep getting conflicting information. I'm going to spend time today reading more about it.
If you have worked or know anything about Odesk please contact me. I will be making a decision today. I may go ahead and test. I really don't want to have to go to work in a nursing home and have to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
I also have to work on my office phone. It quit working, and not sure why. I haven't been able to work at home because of this. We thought the phone line was broke, but we run new line and it still isn't working. Maybe we can work on it while we are off work this week.
Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Working at home isn't working out

Well I've been trying to do this for several months. It doesn't seem to be working out. I'm not making any money, and we are getting more behind on bills. I'm not giving up though.
We have to go out of town for a funeral. Either while we are gone or as soon as we get back I'm doing a application for a new job. I'm also checking on a job outside of the home, if only temporary. I have to get our bills caught up.
I hope if I have to go to work out of the home, I will be able to save a little to take a transcription course. Maybe I could get a transcription job and do that from home.
Pray that I find something soon. With the economy the way it is, work is hard to come by.

Blogging for dollars

I have only recently started blogging. I have found I love it. You can blog about anything. I currently have 3 blogs, this one on working from home, and 2 on crocheting for charity. One of my crocheting for charity also has devotions included.
I plan to add my 2 on blogger to a pay per post site when they are old enough. I have not made any money blogging. I also blog on today.com about crocheting for charity. I only have 3 enters on it. I hope to start making money soon with my blogs. I have discovered since blogging that I love to write. I will be starting another blog in a few days on healthcare. It will include everything you need to know about healthcare, from how to choose a Dr, to care for different diseases. This blog will involve things I already know from my experience as a nurse to indepth research.
If you like to write and have a blog, check out the pay per post sites. Why not get paid for doing something you enjoy. Write about things you know, have experience with, or enjoy doing.
Happy Blogging.

continueing to search

I spent several hours yesterday signing up for surveys, and paid to read email. I have found these sites through work at home forums. I'm going to spend time today doing the same thing, after I check on the ones I signed up for yesterday.
While reading a new forum this morning I found someone who was offering spread sheets to help organize yourself. I have to do some changes on my laptop, to set something up like that. For the time being I'll continue to use my index cards.
I didn't have much time this morning, as I worked for the examiner company today. I did 4 insurance exams this morning. I recieved an email today for a sales management position with an insurance company. From the sound of the email, I could do the work from home. I thinking it over right now. Mainly because I'm not a sales person.
If you are interested in working from home, or doing paramed exams contact me. I'll help anyway I can. Parameds mostly work from home, you set your own schedule. You do have to leave home to preform the exams unless you have a home office that has a seperate entrance. I enjoy this work, and the fact that most of the time I only work 2 days a week. The best part of my job as a nurse was drawing blood. Maybe I am a vampire. Most of the exams are 30 mins long, but they can take as long as an hour, or as short as 10 mins. You fillout a health history, obtain blood and urine, and sometimes preform EKG's.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Busy week

I have been busy this week. The insurance exam company I work for also helps with wellness clinics. I have done 3 this week. I have worked 4 days outside of home. The evenings I have spent reseaching different jobs. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to update my blogs. Over the next few days I hope to add things to this blog.
I have 2 blogs right now, and registered my other blog on pay per post. It was turned down because it's less than 90 days old. I will re-register it and register this one as soon as they are old enough. I am reviewing forums on getting paid to post. As I learn new things I will post here.
I'm also looking at sites that pay you to post on their site. I have registered at postingdirect.com and posted once for them.
I don't know about everyone else, but I have a hard time remembering every place I've registered and what each username and password is. I have come up with a system that works well. I have an index box, and a pack of index cards. Each new thing I sign up for, I make a card for it. I'm going to get a pack of dividers for the box. When I get them, I'll divide sections for each type of work, such as blogging, paid email, typing, phone work, ect. I'm one of those peole that has to have a list for everything. I not only make gracery list, but list of where I have to go and for what. I didn't do this today, and forgot to go to 2 different places.
Watch for exciting updates, and helpful information.

Looking for more work

Well I have spent most of the last couple days look at work at home forums, and trying to find more work to do that will fit my scedule. I already do 2 paid to read email. Yesterday I check my balance on both of them. I work for mypoints and start that in 2000, I have over 15,000 points, and the other one is inbox I started this past spring I have $15.53. I think I'm going to use them for christmas this since things are a little tight.
If you read this and know of any companies hiring work at home jobs with flexible schedule, schedules that let you change each week, email me or leave a comment. I currently work for w*st, and p*st*ng d*r*ct. My schedule changes everyweek, due to my primary job. Even though $7-9 hr is good money for working at home, I can't turn down $20/hr, because I'm sceduled to work something else. I am looking into paid to post, and some non-phone jobs.

A day in the life of a house wife

5:00am-6:00am-----up and out of bed, make breakfast, pack hubby's lunch for work, make sure hubby is getting up.
6:00am-7:00am-----have a cup of coffee, check available work schedule for work at home jobs, read wahm forum.
7:00am-8:00am-----get daughter up for school, have another cup of coffee, continue reading forum, check on new work at home jobs, fill out applications, let dogs out and back in.
8:00am-9:00am-----move laptop to office, get programs start for work, feed and water pets.
9:00am-10:00am---work for an hour
10:ooam-12:00pm--clean house, find something for lunch, let dogs out and in.
12:00pm-12:30pm--eat lunch
12:30pm-1:00pm----prepare for another shift of work.
1:00pm-2:00pm-----work for an hour
2:00pm-4:00pm-----relax a little, finish any housework, call insurance client to set appointments, and confirm appointments, let dogs out and in, feed and water pets again.
4:00pm-5:00pm-----prepare supper, and serve.
5:00pm-6:00pm-----clean up from supper, let dogs out and in, give one dog meds.
6:00pm-7:00pm-----check schedules again, write in blog.
7:00pm-7:30pm------prepare for bed, and go to bed.
7:30pm-8:30pm------ rub hubby's back and neck so he can relax and go to sleep.
8:30pm---------------sleep, blessful sleep

Now keep in mind this is an example of a day I work from home. 2-3 days a week I preform insurance exams, and recently I've been helping with wellness clinics. Most of the days I work away from home I don't do my work at home jobs, except maybe blogging. I also try to get some crocheting in most days. I do this during my down time and while waiting for time to start working. On fridays I clean our church.
As you can see a housewife doesn't just sit around watching soaps, talk shows, and sappy movies. That's not to say there aren't housewives who do these things, but most of us don't.

Wife working from home

OK, I know everyone calls it mom working from home or work from home mom. I'm a wife first, and mom second. This doesn't mean my children are less important. My husband is the most important person to me after God. I stay at home to care for him and his needs. I clean, cook, and work from home for him.
I have always wanted to be a stay at home wife. I have spent over 10 years researching the internet for jobs I could do from home. I have found two, and found a great forum with loads of others. I plan to spend most of today researching new jobs, and applying for them. I enjoy staying at home and having the flexiblity to work when I want to. However, this type of work requires discipline. You have to remember that it is a job, and to make money you actually have to show up to work. The best parts are you don't need special clothes, I've worked in my PJ's, sweats, whatever I'm wearing at the time my shift starts, you don't have to put gas in your car unless you set up your office away from home, and you make your schedule around your other obligations. I throw a load of clothes in the washer, work for an hour, switch loads.
I do have an advantage most work from home women don't have. My baby is 17 years old. I don't have to work around naps, and bedtime, or get daycare. I work when my husband is working, and the kids know to be quiet. My only disturbance is the dogs. When the kids are home they help keep the dogs quiet. If there is no one here, I put one dog in his cage, one in the room with me with a muzzle, and the other is the frontroom. At some point I hope to sound proof my home office.
You have to have a supportive husband to do this type of work. I have had some difficulty conviencing my husband this is real work. He feels if I'm not leaving home, then I'm not really working. As all of you wives know, we work more than most men. If you have a job outside of the home, you still have several hours of work at home to do we call it housework. If you want to prove to your husband just how much you do in a day, write down everything you do and how much time it took. I did this one day, and was surprised myself. My next post will be my results.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. See you tomorrow.
